Ayesha and Steve met as teenagers. Ayesha went to fill out an application at a local pharmacy to make some money for prom and there was Steve behind the counter. “We exchanged numbers and became friends,” Ayesha recalls. “One thing led to another and here we are today. I call it fate. “

After taking some time, Ayesha and Steve got back together and dated for five years. Steve made a pact with God that if he ever got a second chance with Ayesha, he would never let her go. He made good on that promise by proposing to her in the most romantic way ever. “My friends told me that a chef was holding a tasting in Brooklyn, but they set me up,” says Ayesha. “When I walked into the studio, Steve was standing in the middle of the room and 40 of our closest family and friends were around him. Rose petals, candles and a smile filled the room. “Most of all, what she loves, Steve asked Ayesha to be his wife.

The couple chose to exchange vows at the On The Sound Surf Club in New Rochelle, New York, as it offers breathtaking views of the water. With the help of her wedding planner Victoria Lartey-Williams from Victorious Events NYC, the bride and groom’s white and gold wedding fantasy was beautifully brought to life. All they had to do was show up and look good. “Victoria helped make our dream wedding a reality,” Ayesha told ESSENCE. “I can’t imagine planning our wedding without her.”
